What’s Your Favourite Neighbourhood in Toronto

What’s Your Favourite Neighbourhood in Toronto

Toronto is home to almost 3 million people who are scattered across over 150 neighbourhoods. The city’s dwellers enjoy a variety of different cultures and lifestyles. The neighbourhoods range from city life to the suburbs, from parks and green space to shopping and restaurants. Toronto offers an array of different styles of living and when I asked the Toronto real estate agents on the SO&Co. team what their favourite neighbourhood in Toronto is, here’s what they said!

Riverdale is a great neighbourhood for schools, parks (Riverdale & Withrow Park), restaurants and that community feeling that we all desire. With huge trees, plenty of green space and a diverse, tight knit  community, you get that suburb feeling but are walking distance from the subway, streetcar lines and easy access to the DVP and Gardiner. Filled with tons of beautiful homes (many recently undergoing facelifts) and independent shops, people of all ages can’t resist the charm. Riverdale is one of Toronto’s most desirable neighbourhoods, especially for young couples.

West Queen West steals the show when it comes to “cool” hoods! Filled with independent retail shops, restaurants, boutique shops, galleries, bakeries, coffee shops, eateries, patios, studios, Trinity Bellwoods, Graffiti Alley and more, it’s an artists paradise out there. While Queen West is one of Toronto’s trendiest places to live, it’s trendy to live if you have cash as it’s one of the more expensive places to live in the city. The people of Queen West pay for the convenience of amenities, public transit, parks and more! Home to the countries biggest and best mental health and addiction hospital (CMHC), this neighbourhood merges different demographics and weaves a neighbourhood where “acceptance” is the top priority. West End is the Best End!

Parkdale has been gaining popularity over the years. Previously known as a not-so-nice part of the city filled low income housing, it has become an investors dream as it’s the grounds to so many beautiful dwellings just waiting to be turned into someone’s dream home! Nowadays, it’s a bustling area with some of the top restaurants in the city such as La Phenix and Guu Izakaya. In addition to the great places to eat, the side streets are flanked with beautiful Victorian homes that have maintained their charm and character over the years. Owners in this area pride their homes and it shows as these homes are very desired- with prices consistently holding strong during turbulent times in the Toronto Real Estate market. Parkdale is a great spot to go for vintage clothing, amazing coffee shops, bars and restaurants. Walk around the area and you’re sure to find a spot to please everyone.

East Danforth also referred to as Danforth Village is located in the east side of the old city of Toronto. Home to a large Greek population, it runs from the edge of Greektown to Scarborough. This family-friendly neighbourhood attracts many young, growing families because of it’s convenience and charm. Located on the Bloor-Danforth Subway line, the residences of East Danforth enjoy authentic Greek dining, fresh fruit and vegetable markets, discount shopping and beautiful homes. The houses range from semi-detached Victorian’s, to bungalows, to newer towns. The options are endless. With beautiful lush trees, excellent schools and easy highway access, the Danforth Village is one of those special areas of Toronto that makes it feel like it’s own world.
