Staging – The Early Years

Staging – The Early Years

Preparing properties for sale is something we’ve always done. But way back when, ‘professional staging’ just wasn’t a thing. Well, not the way it is these days. Instead, we rolled up our sleeves and found solutions however possible.

One of our more memorable sales was a home on Bar Harbour Square in Port Union Village (a waterfront community at the far east end of Toronto – and one of our favourite neighbourhoods).

This was a home that we helped our clients purchase in 2006. Fast forward six years and our clients were ready for an upgrade – but many of the items on the To Do list from the previous years had yet to be done (happens to the best of us!). Well, we knew that we could sell this home as-is…but we also knew that with a little preparation and work, we could help our clients get the best price possible. So that’s exactly what we did!

Painting is one of the easiest things you can do – and it can make a world of difference. And paint isn’t just for walls – in this home, we painted out the weathered blue cabinets for a look that was fresh, clean and appealed to a wider target audience.

We also advised our clients to take up the carpet in place for this gorgeous bamboo flooring. Add in some lighting, art and decorations – and we had completely changed the feel of the space!

The result? A record breaking sale price. In fact, it was the highest price ever on the street!

As a side note – it was also a great investment for the buyer as prices in the area have nearly doubled since the time of the sale. Win-win – that’s what we like to see.

These days, we have an amazing staging and design team that knows what they’re doing and helps transform ordinary rooms into beautiful spaces. We’ve solidified relationships with painters, flooring contractors, cleaners and so many more people that help us do what we do. Check out our Staging Gallery for more examples of our work.
