fatSO eats was feeling some Pad Thai this month, so where better to go than downtown’s Khao San Road!
Located conveniently on Charlotte St, you can quickly hop off the street car on Spadina and King to join the many others who love this restaurant!
Their quick and friendly service got us seated straight away (we did go in pretty early) and were greeting with beautiful decor and the strong smell of distinguishable Thai cuisine…
We’re lovers of things seafood, so naturally we went for the ‘kung tod gra tiem prik thai’… also known as the less exotic sounding ‘garlic shrimp’, served on top of carrot strips and naam djeem dipping sauce.
For something that fills your soul as well as your stomach, we’d recommend their Bangkok-style Pad Thai. This dish is huge, big enough to half and save the rest for tomorrow’s lunch, but we didn’t, so we’ll skip passed that! I chose to go for the ‘3- Spicy’ option on their spice rank, any hotter and you’re just lying to yourself that you can cope with the heat. Fortunately our table service topped up our waters every 2 sips, so if you were too bold for your own good, you’ll have the waitresses there to save you.
If you’re not feeling overly hungry, or your soul is already full of noodles and love, we’d recommend going for the classic Thai panang curry; red bell pepper, hot green pepper, fresh makrut lime leaf, thai basil, coconut milk. It’s super light, and you know you’re getting the right combination of carbs:protein:veg in your meal. For all you people who are in shape for summer, this meal wont set you off track!
