Toronto’s Top 5 Neighbourhoods For Young Professionals

Toronto’s Top 5 Neighbourhoods For Young Professionals

Every summer, a wave of young professionals arrives in Toronto post-graduation, fresh-faced and eager with the promise of their first real career job. Toronto real estate welcomes these young professionals as their youthful energy, disposable income, and desire for fun and adventure, contribute to the city’s heartbeat! The key for this demographic is finding the perfect place to live. There needs to be the right combination of access to transportation; proximity to nightlife, bars, and restaurants; availability of amenities; and closeness to work. My name is Britt Huggins and I am a Toronto real estate agent on the SO&Co team. Let’s take a look at the top 5 neighbourhoods for young professionals (in no particular order).

Liberty Village

Liberty Village checks nearly all the boxes for a young professional. Close to the GO train, streetcar and buses…check! Close to bars, restaurants, groceries, shopping…check! Large availability of condos with great amenities…check! This neighbourhood has a lot of offices within its borders but even if you work downtown, it’s just a short public transit ride away. Liberty Village has it all when it comes to wanting an area where you can live, work, and play.

Entertainment District

The name says it all…you will certainly be entertained by living in this area. A perfect blend of nightlife, restaurants, and sporting events can all be accessible to you. Not to mention that this is the home to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) where you can be dazzled by world-renowned filmmakers and actors, and attend screenings, forums, and more. If movies aren’t your thing, you can be sure to take in a hockey, baseball, or basketball game since you will be living close to the Rogers Centre and Scotiabank Arena, home to all major Toronto sports.

The Entertainment District is also easily accessible by public transit and close to many of the downtown core’s offices and work share spaces. You are surrounded by iconic Toronto landmarks such as the CN Tower and Ripley’s Aquarium. The area boasts a variety of places to live from including luxury and boutique condos to penthouses and lofts. Plus, you are a short bike ride away from the Harbourfront area which offers even more entertainment and leisure.

Yonge and Eglinton

You often hear our parent’s generation refer to this area as “Yonge and Eligible” as this used to be their stomping grounds back when they themselves were young professionals. While many things have changed over the years, this area is still quite appealing to young folks in the city. There is easy access whether you plan on going downtown or to the northern suburbs. There are a vast array of businesses in the area which ensure plenty of job opportunities. In addition, there are a number of restaurants, and shopping options from big box stores to boutiques, and many restaurants.

The living options in this area are varied which makes them appealing to many. There are plenty of condos and pre-construction. In addition, there are upscale residences for when young professionals decide to call this area home permanently. The access to public transportation at Yonge and Eglinton is unparalleled. Some condo buildings boast underground access to the TTC making your winter commute a dream!

The Distillery District

One of the most picturesque areas in all of Toronto’s real estate, The Distillery District has beautiful 19th-century industrial architecture, historic buildings, and dreamy cobblestone streets. This neighbourhood is home to a prominent heritage site spanning 13 acres where the Gooderham and Worts Distillery used to thrive. There are a variety of different condos to choose from all offering excellent amenities.

For those young professionals who have families that live in the east end or in the north/eastern suburbs of the city, this is a great area for you. Close to the DVP and public transit, you are just a short ride away from the suburbs or the rest of the city.

Also nearby is the world-renowned St. Lawrence Market. This market is a top destination for visitors and locals alike. Offering a variety of artisanal goods, sandwiches, unique treats, and fresh produce, this market is every food lover’s dream. Not to mention, a pretty special place to do your grocery shopping!

West Queen West/King West Village

If you want the utmost trendy, vibrant, hustle and bustle, city lifestyle…look no further than West Queen West and neighbouring King West Village. These areas are beloved by Toronto real estate agents as they offer unique and trendy lofts that really set the area apart from the many high-rise condos in the city. The area is a bit quieter than nearby Liberty Village or King West but you can easily access these areas as well as the downtown core as you will be close to many forms of public transit.

Young professionals will enjoy the variety of trendy bars, restaurants, coffee shops, boutique hotels, and vibrant nightlife that the area has to offer. Additionally, this area holds Trinity Bellwoods Park which can be a much-needed green space escape after you spend all your time downtown in the concrete jungle.

Overall, Toronto is the perfect city for young professionals to live in. As the city offers the opportunity to live, work, and play; there’s really no better playground for young adults to choose from. If you are a young professional looking to move to the Big Smoke, make sure to reach out to your favourite Toronto real estate agent today to figure out which neighbourhood is the most suitable for you!
