Toronto Maple Leaf’s Penthouse Drops Price By 1 Million Dollars

Toronto Maple Leaf’s Penthouse Drops Price By 1 Million Dollars

To say the current real estate market is somewhat unpredictable is an understatement. We’ve witnessed the rise and fall of property prices of all types, we’ve ridden the waves of shifting interest rates, and we’ve seen bidding wars that had people paying through the roof for properties that lost their initial purchase value within months. As a Toronto real estate agent, I’ve seen it all!

The market hasn’t just affected the average Canadian family home, the luxury homes as well. Nadeem Kadri, former Toronto Maple Leaf, is having trouble selling his condo in the sky. Measuring over 3,200 square feet of living space, Kadri listed his open-concept haven at 199 Richmond Street West for $5.4 million dollars in the fall of 2022 and re-listed it only a short while later for $4.5 million instead.

What does a $5 million dollar condo get you these days in Toronto? Well, this one has a laundry list of amenities to boast. Starting with the perfect view! Picture floor-to-ceiling windows on a penthouse unit that sits over 30 floors above the city’s hustle and bustle. The open-concept dwelling provides a blank canvas for its residents’ to make it their own. Imagine the sun pouring through as you enjoy your coffee in the morning, or being surrounded by stars as you entertain an intimate circle of friends in the evening.

The luxury condo of course offers top-of-the-line appliances, tagged with the desirable Miele name. The marble feature wall showcases the media centre and modern fireplace, all controlled with smart technology. Open and close shades on demand, alter lighting and music to suit the ambiance, or relax by the fire and take it all in.

Once the day is done, retire to one of the three luxury bathrooms or enjoy a nightcap on one of the five balconies. The primary suite is where the star power shines. Large and spacious, with “Cosmopolitan Las Vegas” styling and a massive free-standing soaker tub adorns one of the marble walls. This is a condo that any Toronto real estate agent would be excited to represent!

Toronto is a hockey town. It’s not hard to spend a day in the city without seeing Torontonians wearing their Maple Leaf jerseys with pride. People spend good money on Leaf memorabilia—signed photos, pucks, jerseys—and this condo is the ultimate fan souvenir.

Kadri, a fan favourite, is a London (Ontario) born hockey player that broke out first with the Kitchener Rangers, followed by the London Knights, before getting drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2009. By 2010, he claimed a silver medal with Team Canada at the World Junior Championships and made a polarizing name for himself amidst the NHL. Sadly, 2019 saw the trade of Kadri to the Colorado Avalanche but the tears were short-lived for Nazeem as he became the first Muslim hockey player ever to win the Stanley Cup in 2022. Later that year, Kadri joined the Calgary Flames as a free agent, signing for 7 years (and $49 million!) and confirming he would not be returning to Toronto for the foreseeable future—rendering it unnecessary for the former native to hold on to the property.

His loss can be your gain if you’re ready to live a lavish life in this luxury condo. If you’re in the market for this high-end property, don’t hesitate to let us know, as with the price drop it’s sure to get a few offers fired at it soon!

Oh, and Go Leafs Go!
